Hi, I’m Missy. Let’s uncover and remove what inhibits your personal and professional excellence, so you can use your whole self to guide healing in yourself and others.
Melissa Wetterlund, MA, LP, LMFT, RPT-S is the co-creator of the Somatic Experiential Play Therapy model. She offers therapy, parent coaching, consultation, trainings, online learning opportunities, and resources for clients and clinicians like you. Find healing, grow your expertise, complete CEUs, and gain confidence with Melissa.
In all areas of life I have found that making decisions and creating change is so much easier when we understand the why underneath it all. This is especially true in our professional work. Fully understanding the facts that underlie and motivate presenting needs is foundational when supporting parents in engaging in new parenting strategies, equipping clinicians to work more confidently, supporting agencies in developing solid clinical protocols, or developing a solid modality to stimulate change for children.
Whether I am teaching, training, or consulting, it is my goal to unearth the why underneath problems that need solutions. I work to find answers to questions such as why do children struggle to articulate needs? Why do therapists struggle to make clinical decisions without the help of their mentors? Why do parents divert to punishment or apathy instead of healthy discipline? When we can uncover the “why” it not only facilitates empathy, but also confidence in the journey towards change.
We do better when we can integrate the whys behind behaviors and choices.
It is my vision to help parents, clinicians, and business owners to find the why in order to do better. Doing better means feeling more confident, knowing why we believe what we do, acting purposefully and not reactively, and being thoughtful about our goals and intentions in order to implement them effectively.
I want to support you, no matter which journey you are on, to understand the why so you can do better. Together we can explore and embrace both personal and universal whys that will help you create change in yourself and support others in doing the same.
